End of The Book?

Didn't we use to say that new technologies such as books will almost never take over traditional ones? Didn't we use to say that the value of an electronic gadget is not much compared to the one of a real book?

Well, I think that the response is somehow yes, except for those who are looking forward to live like The Jetsons! What would be great is to stop thinking about the "greatness" of technology...STOP thinking about what it CAN do, and START thinking about what it CAN NOT do...

Of course, access to information & knowledge should become easier if this Sony Reader is to be brought at a worldwide range. But the question I'm asking myself is, what is really the added value of this electronic book, except the fact that it's more handy? I personally think that buying a real book with yellow pages & small sized times new roman would make me feel more of a reader!

But in anyways, how can I counter the incredible rise of new technologies...I just hope they won't dare shrink Tolstoy's War & Peace in a half-inched hand gadget...!
Speaking of Tolstoy, which do you prefer?...reading the real biggest 1500 pages novel in the world? or the same story on a 300 gramme device?...

Google's

Not only google already has the largest number of hosted web pages, but it will also start its great innovation, which will allow the company to leave its competitors even further behind!

In the meanwhile, will it be really useful for online researches & queries? In other words, can't we already find abstracts or detailed articles (if it's not the article itself) on a given topic on the google pages? There already is an archiving website for old newspapers on www.newspaperarchive.com OR archive.timesonline.co.uk , where we can find very old articles that were written up to 240 years back in time! But it is true that old information will be more accessible, given the fact that google is very likely to be more famous than these 2 websites.

Last but not least, two more questions...Wouldn't there be any copyright issues? What is the real added value of Google's new system, as the concept already exist?
